2. Community College Scholar Award.

This scholarship is available to domestic students who are transferring from a community college and will begin in the autumn.

Scholarship amount: $7,500 ($3,750 annually for two years).

Eligibility

At the time of acceptance, the student must have a 3.50 or higher GPA* and at least 30 credit hours completed.

By May, you should have either completed your associate degree or gotten the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement.

3. Community College Honors Award.

Scholarship value: $5,000 ($2,500 per year for two years).

To be eligible for enrollment, applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above and have completed at least 24 credit hours.

4. Associate Achievement Award

This $1,500 prize is awarded annually to students who have completed an associate’s degree and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Scholarship value: $1,500.

Before enrolling at MSU, you must have finished your associate degree within the previous two years and one term. Students who earn an Associate Achievement Award may be eligible for the Spartan.

The Transfer Scholarship and other MSU scholarship grants cover up to the cost of attendance.

All approved transfer students will be automatically eligible for this scholarship after they submit their final transcripts to MSU. No more applications are required.

5. The Medallion Grant Program.

The Medallion Grant Program is WMU’s most distinguished merit-based grant for incoming first-year students, worth about $90,920 over four years.

This includes:

  • Tuition and costs could reach up to $16,000 per year (for four years).
  • An annual on-campus housing scholarship of up to $5,600 (over four years).
  • A one-time engagement scholarship of up to $3,000 to help fund study abroad or research.

Eligibility

Medallion scholars stand out from their colleagues. Students are chosen via a competitive, comprehensive review of their admissions application files.

Up to 60 semifinalists will be chosen for interviews with up to 20 Medallion Scholars.

6. Foundation Scholarship.

Western Michigan University also offers a foundation scholarship to help transfer students pay for their tuition.

Eligibility

  • PTF scholarships are available to first-year students depending on their GPA at the time of acceptance to WMU.

8. Bronco Promise.

Students are only eligible for the grant during the autumn and spring semesters, for 12–15 credit hours.

There is no application for this scholarship; however, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is due by July 1.

The scholarship will be maintained each academic year if students continue to demonstrate financial need on the FAFSA while maintaining satisfactory academic progress (SAP).

Scholarship of $50,000.

  • The candidate must be a full-time, incoming first-year student who has previously received the Bronco Promise Award.
  • Must also be a Michigan resident, as determined at admission, and participate in WMU’s financial literacy program.
